Back to Class Community Agreements
Group 5 Brainstorming:
Our Names: Zoƫ, Noa, Hanna
Q: What do we need in order to have this class feel like a safe,
equitable, and productive space for learning?
- Guidance when you need help
- Constructive criticism
- Being able to fail forward
Q: Coding may sometimes feel frustrating and daunting. What could we do
together, and what can be useful, to help us learn through problems?
- Giving feedback to one another
- Being about to share resources with eachother
- When questions arise, not being judged for asking
Q: A lot of coding is about gathering resources (Googling, referring to
documentation, or looking at other people's work) you need and learning
about it. But it's also important to be truly understanding the
fundamentals, rather than copying someone else's code without
understanding. What could we do, in our Studio projects or in our Lab
homework, to make sure we're doing our best to show we're applying what
we've learned?
- Valueing a strong foundation and the learning process to create it
- If there is a really compicated but cool code, talking with those more experienced to understand how it works
- Trying to restrain from just copying and pasting without thought
